Best idea. an NPC in pre would not mix well with continuity...he'd have to be a time traveler. Once you enter that into the story, then what's to prevent the QQ'ing from people wanting to take their post-searing characters back to pre-searing?

Although, we DO have the ability to play old missions with later characters.

"I killed Shiro, now I'm going to go to the Far Shiverpeaks and defeat the Great Destroyer, then go to Old Ascalon and help Prince Rurik evacuate his people!"

There's no easy argument for or against it given these scenarios. The ability to add any obtained titles to the HOM in account-wide mode would solve this continuity problem. Account-wide mode already bridges the gap between characters in varying stages of the main storylines, why not add perma-pre characters to this?

Because it doesn't make sense. If you make LDoA account wide, you might as well make ALL titles account wide. Tell me, why should LDoA be account wide and not GMC? Or Protector? Or Vanquisher? Or Survivor? None of those titles give benefits but are character specific.

As has been said as well, seeing NF and Factions chars with LDoA is just... bizarre. If you're really desperate to have LDoA in your HoM, make another char to commit. I wouldn't be totally against the idea of an NPC to add it to HoM but there'd need to be a reasonable story behind why and how.

/unsigned for OPs suggestion

/signed for way for Pre-Sears to access HoM/dedicate title without leaving Pre-Sear

So I gave the idea some more thought, I think they should really give you the title when you arrive after the searing.
So get to 20th level then go through the searing and then get the title.

That at least has some logic about it, you entered the war as a more experienced character achieved more and became a legendary defender.

Rather than you threw yourself on your enemies swords till they became worthy enough for you to fight them and gain experience.
No, because you have nothing left to defend after the searing, so you flee to another part of the continent. By staying in Pre, you are in constant battle with the Charr, preventing them from destroying Ascalon in The Searing. Therefore you're defending your continent and city forever, thus becoming a Legendary Defender of Ascalon.
Yes the mechanics in which you gain the title are odd but that is the nature of the grind.

Your not really in constant battle against the Charr you are meeting the same small low level group of Charr and standing by a res shrine crying kill me kill me for a day than suddenly killing them when they have gained levels.

You do not suddenly leap forward to after the war the text implies that after taking the mission you are involved in the searing and are now a survivor some time later.
I can get my head around gaining a title for actually fighting in the war and performing heroic deeds, so until the searing happens there are no rewards.

I still think it would be awesome to add a two-part quest that is only available if you have an LDoA toon in pre and EotN, one part in Pre and a second in Post.

Pre-part: (toon has to be LDoA to get quest) Talk to NPC who is already there by res shrine north of wall, who gives you quest and asks you to do X (kill everything in that explorable area...sort of a low-level NM vanquish). You return after doing so and NPC plants a flag/marker of some kind there near shrine as testimony to your legendary services.

Post-part: (only available after Pre-part completed) Talk to NPC in HoM, who tells you of (your Pre-toon's name) who was known as a legendary defender of ascalon that died during the searing and is in some way tangentially related to you. Then tells you if you retrieve flag/marker from Old Ascalon you can display it in your HoM. So you go down there and grab it and bring it back and stick it in HoM.

And if you do the post part and place LDoA in your HoM, you can no longer accept quest/miss in Pre that sears the toon. It becomes truly perma-pre.

That is a way better idea than making LDoA account wide.

EDIT: On second thought, it would be wicked sweet if they basically made a HM for North of the Wall for this quest. But I'll say again, I've a toon I want to get LDoA on but see no problem with having to make a choice between staying perma-pre and missing out on LDoA in HoM or searing the toon to get the HoM reward.

Everyone wins here.

It keeps its exclusivity and it's able to be put in the hall by perma pres.

I really see no reason not to just add that ability to an existing pre Character (we all know nick ends up showing up post so it shouldn't be hard to figure out an explination involving him bringing news of your acheivements to eye of the north after the searing to keep it from seeming weird and all)
